St Andrews is a town of contrasts: a world-famous destination for golfers, a historic university town, and a place where long-term residents live, work, and raise their families. Yet, these different groups often exist in separate bubbles, with little integration between students, local residents, businesses, and tourists. The LPP aims to break down these barriers and foster a stronger, more connected community.

One key action is to establish shared spaces and co-working hubs, where students and locals can interact in a meaningful way. The plan also promotes more community events and cultural initiatives that celebrate the diversity of the town, encouraging everyone to participate.

To improve social integration, the plan suggests creating outdoor seating and meeting spaces in the town centre, where informal interactions can take place. Expanding community allotments, where locals and students can grow food together, is another initiative aimed at fostering relationships. A common booking system for community facilities will also be developed to ensure that residents can easily access spaces for meetings, events, and activities.
