We engage in various ways with the people of St Andrews, promote community participation in local matters and are involved in projects and activities that promote the best possible environment for those living, working, studying in or visiting the town.
On a practical level, we then volunteer to help by participating in initiatives that hopefully make a positive contribution to our home town.

Meets at the discretion of the convenor when there is relevant business to discuss. This committee consists of the following: The Convenor, The Depute Convenor, The Secretary, The Treasurer and The Convenors of the Council’s Committees

Focussed on fostering better communications and relationships within the St Andrews community. Organises events such as the Bandstand Concerts, Gardening Competition, Putting Competition, Civic Reception.

Discusses matters pertaining to the Common Good assets that belonged to the former Burghs of Scotland.

As statutory consultees in the planning system, the planning committee has delegated power to act – in other words, it can comment or formally object on planning matters without waiting first for approval by the full community council.
Community councils have a statutory right to be consulted on applications for planning permission and the community council has a special role, representing a broader yet still local view which can be set alongside the comments of those with a more individual interest. However, the community council is not the final decision-maker on applications – this rests with Fife Council Planning Department. Considers relevant transport issues, such as Spaces for People measures, parking, active travel and rail.

A newly established committee set up following the submission of the Local Place Plan (LPP) to investigate ways of implementing aspects of the LPP,discover and encourage other local initiatives that align with the LPP and to consult with Vice Council to follow up on the LPP submition.
