An Evening of Scottish Entertainment – A Wonderful Community Night

=

The Town Hall was filled with warmth, music, and community spirit on Friday 14 November as The Royal Burgh of St Andrews Community Council hosted a memorable Evening of Scottish Entertainment. The event, organised primarily by Community Councillors Marion Mason and Neil Cunningham Dobson, with the support of their colleagues, brought together an impressive showcase of local talent and drew a large and enthusiastic audience.

Guests were treated to a rich programme featuring:

  • Paul Webster, St Andrews Piper
  • Dance St Andrews
  • Byre Youth and Community Arts
  • Gordon Howe & Stella Wilkie (fiddle) with James Coutts on accordion
  • James Coutts (accordion)
  • Royal Scottish Country Dance Society of St Andrews, accompanied by Michael Taylor on accordion
  • Billy Kay, writer and broadcaster
  • City of St Andrews Pipe Band, led by Pipe Major Paul Donaldson
  • St Andrews Community Choir, with Callum MacLeod (piano) and Sue Hill (fiddle)
  • Christina Mowatt, compere and vocalist
  • King Creosote (Kenny Anderson) and Derek O’Neill

The variety, talent, and heart displayed by every performer made the evening truly special and ensured that the programme flowed from one highlight to the next.

Behind the scenes, a wide team of volunteers, stage crew, photographers, and technical experts helped deliver a professional and welcoming event. Our thanks go to the backstage team, the AudioWAVE sound and lighting specialists, and the Town Hall staff, whose work throughout the day ensured everything ran smoothly from start to finish.

We are also grateful to the local businesses and supporters whose contributions helped cover event costs and enabled us to stage a night of this scale and quality.

Most of all, thank you to everyone who performed, supported, or came along to celebrate with us. St Andrews, you shone. Here’s to many more wonderful community events in the years ahead.
